Here are current issues that the Sound Alliance is working on. There are many ways for you to become involved! Talk to your local leaders or call the Sound Alliance for more information.

The Strategy Team has voted to support the following bills under consideration in the Washington Legislature:

- HB 2853

Establishes a financing mechanism that will:

1) Enable local governments to expand and improve existing energy conservation and energy efficiency loan programs to aid the private and nonprofit sectors in undertaking residential, commercial, and industrial energy efficiency upgrades;
(2) Lead to reductions in household energy bills;
(3) Provide incentives for the creation of new family wage jobs in construction, manufacturing, and installation of
energy-saving products;
(4) Encourage investments by the utility sector in a cleaner environment;
(5) Decrease the need for new power plant construction; and
(6) Increase energy security.

- HB 2561 

Creates jobs in every corner of the state by issuing bonds, which will catalyze energy savings and repair work at public schools, state colleges and universities, and other
public buildings.

Provides that the act takes effect only if the voters approve certain sections of the act by December 1, 2010.

The Health Care Research Action Team is encouraging the state legislature to rescind any cuts to the DSHS Budget for Interpretation Services and maintain full funding.
